The Young Female Entrepreneurs Book Club is reading Making Ideas Happen by Scott Belsky beginning June 11th for six weeks. Book Club Moderators Jessica Newell and Morgan Hatton are walking you through six weeks of prompts. We are on week 2 (view week 1 prompt 1 and prompt 2). The book is available via eBook and in paperback form. Download a .pdf except here.
Before we get to this weeks first question for the club, here’s a quick outline of how we will be progressing through the book: http://bit.ly/Mj5rng
This idea of managing your energy is so frequently overlooked. We often drown in long to-do lists and sometimes end up feeling like we really haven’t gotten anything done. Here’s a great picture of Behance’s suggested energy line. (http://the99percent.com/tips/5516/Laying-Your-Energy-Line) It’s a visual way to understand what you should be spending your time on.
We’ve read a bit about accurately prioritizing according to the required amount of energy, but how much time should we spend prioritizing? I remember an acute bewilderment a few years ago when a great old boss of mine told me that I was spending too much time organizing. I thought my charts and graphs were employee-of-the-month quality!
So.. with that said and all of these fun techniques Scott Belsky is teaching us, what’s the limit? How much fun can I have color coding my energy line? 15 minutes? An hour? Am I allowed to buy the expensive “summer-colored” index cards? What do you think?
