Check it out!

May 14, 2013

If you are a young, female entrepreneur who hasn’t been to one of our virtual events just yet, this is an awesome week to check it out! We’re featuring Shama Kabani, Stacey Ferreira, and Srinivas Rao! Scroll down to find out more, to share with your fellow YFEs, and to add reminders to your calendar.

“How do I participate?”
Great question! Here is our step-by-step how to when it comes to participating.

  1. Pop over to YFElive.com just before the live event you want to attend starts.
  2. Introduce yourself on the chat and meet your fellow YFEs
  3. Connect with more YFEs on Twitter using #YFEchat (or #StartupLab if coming on Wednesday) and tweet out your favorite quotes from our featured guests and hosts.

It’s really simple. To be featured on the live stream Tout or tweet us your questions or elevator pitches using the right hashtag (#StartupLab on Wednesday– #YFEchat on Thursday) or @YFEntrepreneur to catch our attention.

Your Lunch Routine

May 3, 2013

Thank you to everyone that commented on the Superfoods Giveaway post! We’ve randomly chosen a winner; congrats to Katie Den Ouden. YFE will be in touch to find out where we can ship the Philosophie Blends and GFree and Happy goodies to!

lunchtime

Lunch time… taken me a while to make this a better routine. But right now I am jonesing for an arugula salad with truffle oil, crushed walnuts, some nutritional yeast, and an over easy egg. As the weather is getting nicer… I tend to eat outside on my deck with no distractions and get some vitamin D. :)

- Katie Den Ouden

Find out more about Philosophie’s Superfood Blends on Sophie’s website at thephilosophie.com. Are you gluten free? Visit GFreeandHappy.com for tips on living life full and healthy.

Thank you to GFree and Happy and Philosophie for providing the goodies!

Finally, lunch time routines as a YFE vary- some work of you work from home, some are in office spaces, and others make a point of networking. Check out this Fast Company article on improving your productivity over lunch:

About three years ago, Thumbtack was a startup in a house high atop a San Francisco hill. There, the local-services-discovery company’s original six employees lived, worked, and schlepped to lunch.

With every noontide, the decidedly pre-revenue startup lost an hour to the lunch trek. Soon they had a crazy idea: What if they ordered in? They tried one day a week, and like the research suggests, they worked way better after eating well. Then a crazier idea: What if they hired a chef?

**This giveaway has closed- thank you to everyone that left their comments!!**

We’re giving away a Superfood Starter Kit with GFreeandHappy.com and ThePhilosophie.com and the entry is super easy!

Enter to win 2 oz packages of YFE Sophie’s popular Berry Bliss and Cacao Magic and a tote and mug set from Kathy of GFree and Happy. To enter, all you have to do is tell us what your lunch time routine is in the comments by this Thursday, May 2nd at 12am PDT.

My company, Ovaleye, is a family business where I partner with my parents. My mom, Kathy is a big fan of YFE often checking out the live streams and clicking like on our Facebook Page. One company I’ve followed because of #YFEla’s Erin Haslag of WELLinLA.com is Philosophie. After getting a few newsletters from Sophie (the owner) I forwarded one on to my mom after reading something about the powder being gluten free (which she is) that supports and boosts your immune system (after being glutened for years she was constantly getting sinus infections).

She’s gone through a few packages now and experiments with lunches and snacks at Ovaleye HQ, which my son and I often get to be her taste testers for. I know a common goal within the YFE community is to be at our personal bests when it comes to health, business, and everything in between. Erin of WELLinLA.com on one of our recent #YFEchat commented that when we’re only able to conquer our goals when we take care of ourselves first.

To get the self-care week kicked off right, I want to help one of you try out your own Philosophie recipes. In the meantime, let’s make this giveaway fun by inspiring each other with the different ways we take our lunch. Comment with what you make yourself (whether it’s pre-packed for the office, eaten at your makeshift kitchen counter desk, or eaten out with colleagues).

Tag photos of your lunches on Instagram and Tout with #YFEchat. When we announce the winner Friday morning we’ll highlight what the community is eating. Check back the rest of the week for advice for self-care on the blog, and this Thursday on #YFEchat featuring Vasavi Kumar Patel.
