Wow – what a night! More than 30 successful female entrepreneurs gathered in Seattle on January 19, 2013 for their first YFE Seattle Meet Up held at E|M Fine Art studio. Seattle Coordinators, Tessa Rowe and Kristina Krug went above and beyond incorporating design from local artists, live music, wine, food, swag bags, raffles and two incredible speakers. Starting off the night was successful event specialist Cori Ready who discussed the importance of setting goals and how it’s possible to create some of the best events on a tight budget through good design, a clear mission and accessibility. Women In Innovation Founder and powerful career coach, Kristiina Hiukka followed Cori with a discussion of the importance of being curious and sharing your thoughts with a mentor or coach in order to fully discover how your ideas can come true. After a Q&A’s with the guests, all the women continued to fill their wine cups up and continue the conversations.
The night ended with an exciting raffle where numerous women won free tickets to Banya 5 Spa, the Seattle Art Museum and a couple free invites to our next YFE Seattle event. All the women went home with one of a kind swag bags that included all natural beauty supplies fromLove True Natural, $50 off the January cycle of Dalch Wellness interactive online health coaching program, free online cooking classes at ChefSteps.com and some fun cards by Katie Davis.

We’re continuing to knock on doors and make opportunity ours in this new year! Welcome to 2013 – Year of the Female Entrepreneur! L.A. is a place filled with dreams and opportunities, but we all know it takes connecting in-person, from those “ah-ha” moments and sentences starting with “You should really meet…” in order to shake things up in this town. Join us for an evening of inspiring conversation, Mexican fare and a drink or two in the beautiful event space at Pink Taco in Century City.
Meet Angela Parker, of Body Inspired Fitness
Trainer, Author, Television Personality and Business Owner – is there anything Angela doesn’t do?
Angela Parker founded Body Inspired Fitness in 2003 on the belief that anybody, anywhere, of any age, size, & fitness level can be in a truly healthy, happy, and vibrant place. In addition to her highly successful Los Angeles based Body Inspired Fitness boot camps, Angela appeared on the hit MTV show, Chelsea Settles. Viewers fell in love with Angela as she helped Chelsea lose an incredible 98 pounds in less than five months & changed her life through the power of exercise.
As we approach the new year many of us are beginning to reflect on the year that was and evaluate where we want to be in 2013 as young female entrepreneurs. In Los Angeles we recently held our final event for the year – our fourth event of the year after launching in May of this year! – and the theme of the night was about thinking big, looking forward and setting goals and objectives necessary to live a life on our terms and aligned with our values.
With our speaker of the evening, Emily Greener, the co-founder of I AM THAT GIRL, there was no shortage of motivation, inspiration and “real talk” about the sweat and tears that go into creating a business. Emily shared how she and her partner, Alexis, came together in what may seem like a very chance encounter – at a party in Los Angeles – to creating an organization that is re-defining what it means to be “that girl”. To have Emily as our guest speaker felt like the perfect ending to 2012 as she encouraged us to think, act and do bigger in our lives and in our careers. Get inspired by Emily and IATG:
In addition to Emily, a little vino and a whole lot of conversation we also created a shared vision board, with women sharing their big goals for 2013. If you’re looking for a healthy dose of inspiration, check out this list and I’m sure you’ll find a goal on this list that resonates for you and your business.
Streamline services and my packages with personal and career goals.
Quit my full-time job (a.k.a. my currently unknowing angel investor) to begin copywriting full time.
To grow more of a following on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram (+ 1,000); start an e-book or a cookbook.
Live my truth.
To change 1,000 women’s lives by 2014.
Launch a wine/travel event in California that is affordable and accessible.
I open a yoga studio that is a mecca of community, changing people’s lives.
Create 2013 goals. Make time to sit with a partner to think bigger and get it all down on paper. Get organized for the coming year. Stay awesome.
Become a household name in our industry.
Create strategic partnerships; Follow a social media marketing plan to gain more clients; plan and design at least 12 weddings in 2013.
Raise $700,000.
To act on the ideas in my head, unapologetically.
Successfully launch the first of what is poised to become a nationwide conference where teen girls come together for inspiration, conversation, information and empowerment.
Collaborate daily; give more than I get; reach 1,000 women; offer new opportunities.
Have our brand name “speak” for itself.
Create a space for our most passionate work to fund & fuel our lives freeing us to make greater change than we can even imagine now – today.
Book my 1st magazine editorial shoot.
Branding! Double what I started!
Become a brand! Make all of my businesses cohesive.
Make my businesses completely sufficient so that I can become completely dependent on them and not my full-time job.
Use my medium – MEDIA – to make the world a better place – not a harder-to-be-noticed place.
Special thanks to our photographer, Ashley Wilkins and of course, NextSpace for their wonderful, warm co-working space and hosting the event.

Whenever YFE creates a new way of bringing this community together, I always have a small moment of panic as it goes live that no one will respond. Of course there has been times when that actually turns out to be the case. The start to our Blog it! Week was not one of them.
Each day this week, YoungFemaleEntrepreneurs.com is encouraging you to add a link to a new or old blog post, interview or article you’ve been featured in, or video blog to a new prompt that revolves around building a business. Today was the first of five days, where women visited the YFE Facebook Page to comment with a link to their “startup story.”
Today’s Prompt was:
Whether you’re just getting started or you’re well into growing your business, everyone has a startup story. Share a link to a blog post that is a “Startup Story.” That could mean different things to each YFE.
Here are the links that were added today that answer the prompt in some way (this will be updated up until midnight PST as new links come in). Please visit, comment and share with your networks:
